You should really try winter fishing here!

On the whole Ice Fishing is our area is mainly for locals, and tourists have not yet flocked to this area for the amazing hard water potentials that we have. There are some dedicated fishermen that come here every winter, and they are all rewarded well. In this day of excellent portable shacks, electronics and snow machines, it is a wonder why tourism is so low here in the winter months. Maybe it just hasn't been marketed well enough. Lake of the woods is very busy with ice fishermen from January on, so my hopes that enough people will soon want to leave the packs and come fish endless waters(and have it all to themselves) is nearing.

For the extra 3 hr drive, you could spend a week up here with fish like the ones posted here.I can set up trips all winter long for warm lodging in housekeeping cabins, recommendations for restaurants and the best possible guides or spots in the area. You can either fish the large bodies of Lac Seul and Minnitaki, or trailer into many nearby smaller lakes, some that never see any fishing pressure.

I know that there are many anglers out there that would love to try some hard water action and trophy fishing. Most days that I go there is nobody else around, especially if you plan your trip for a weekend. I am not looking for 800 shacks in one spot, just simply promoting this area to all hard water fishermen out there who like to "slam em". We could however just keep posting pics of our success until it drives you nuts.
