2009 Summary

Two thousand and nine was a productive season to all fishing this entire area. If you could handle the rain(and I mean rain), and cooler than normal temperatures, you were in for the best possible fishing! Looking back I believe that each one of my trips caught and released a master angler sized fish(or ten) of some species. We all dressed for the wrath of mother nature and were rewarded well. The water levels in the area remained high and the lake temperature stayed low. My year started off with enormous walleye one after the other due to the late spawn here. The spring highlight was Bryon Niekamp catching and releasing this 33 inch walleye on his birthday, proving that these waters do hold some absolute giants, as well as numbers. Huge Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Lake Trout were abundant as well. Many of these happened just while out fishing for walleye.

Musky opened in June, and with the cooler water temps we expected them to be a bit off....we were wrong! On opening week my guest Brian Lassonde released this 49 inch fish from Lac Seul, and encountered many close calls with other monsters. Both of Brian's son's caught big muskies this season as well.
All of my trips had plenty of action, and even on the worst weather days I managed to stay out and find a productive place to hide from the elements. I remember staying on the water with my friends the "Boeslager's" in probably the toughest weather condition that I have ever seen. Not only were we the only boat anywhere on the water, but everybody caught huge fish and made the day worthwhile! I could mention everyone here that released big fish with me in 2009, but this entry would go on forever....please view the best pics of the year at http://www.lacseulguide.com/
I would just like to thank all of my terrific repeat clients for another great season, and I look forward to seeing you in 2010, where I will be posted a weekly report right here...stayed tuned!
